Vampire Academy is a book in a series that has been on my reading list since high school. Well I finally got around to reading it and I did enjoy it, it won't be making it to my favorites list but it's good and I'll likely read more in the series and more by Richelle Mead. 

Filled with action, some romance, danger, and friendship, this story captures your attention and keeps you turning pages. While it wasn't as amazing as I expected based on other reviews, friends recommendations, etc...it was still enjoyable and a better vampire-esque story than others I have read. Characters are pretty great and such strong personalities that stayed consistent throughout the story.

One of the main things I didn't enjoy about this story is I did feel it was fairly repetitive throughout it and many scenes honestly could have just been skipped. But I do feel the author did a wonderful job of sneaking in little things here and there that help build up the end themes even more. Vampire Academy to me is like if the shows Gossip Girl and Revenge had a baby that was a vampire...it would be this book.

I do recommend reading it, and I'll likely read the rest in the future. I will also likely check out more books by this author. For me it's. 3.5 star read, I like it but it just didn't hook me at much as I would like.

Heads Up: there ae some scenes involving blood, violence, and mild kissing scenes. There is also references to self harm.
