On the first day of school Makayla gets hit by a flying longboard, owned by a boy who seemed to care more about the condition of his board than the girl who got hit. This starts off quite a funny and adorable story of Makayla and Justin, along with friends Haley and Brett. In relationships sometimes the past tries to haunt us and ruin our present, but with the right friends and perseverance, past trauma and heartache can be overcome.

Kissing the Skater Boy is such a fun read. While at times Makayla was beyond frustrating and you want to just tell at her to just fall for Justin already. It has so many fun moments that are crucial to the story and their relationship. It did a great job bringing me back to high school again and those memories with friends, dating, enemies, trust, and fun adventures.

Author Christina Herrera did a lovely job showing how trust can easily be broken, but once you find forgiveness for the person who hurt you, you can move on and find joy beyond belief. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fun, cute, and heartwarming story. Also for those who may want to quit reading due to Makayla's attitude at the first...don't stop. I promise it will be all worth it at the end.
