About Me

RANDOM THINGS NO ONE REALLY NEEDS TO KNOW

(This is me and my kitty Ebony. We have another cat as well, but she doesn't like pictures)

1. Why Do I like to read?
  • I love reading because it takes me away to places I may never travel (especially the places that don't actually exist). Reading gives me a chance to learn more about the world around me as well as having time to myself to just relax.
2. Where do I like to read? What do I like to have with me?

  • My favorite places to read include; on a couch by a window, outside on a porch swing or chair, by a pool/beach/lake/etc., and sitting by a Christmas tree with a fire going in the background. I always love to have a blanket snuggled up with me (yes, even in the summer, the blanket just gets lighter as the temperature gets warmer). I also really enjoy having cocoa or cider during Autumn and Winter. However, during Spring and summer its 100% cherry cola or fresh lemonade, those are my absolute weaknesses.
3. When did I start reading?
  • I started to read when I was little. However, during elementary and middle school I was VERY behind on my reading level and couldn't enjoy the books that most kids my age were reading. So once I got to high school I decided to crack down on it and practice. I tried to always have a book to read so I could improve. Ironically (considering how I'm not a big fan of it) the Twilight series is what got me reading on a higher level. For some reason after reading that, everything clicked and I jumped up to the reading level my peers were on at that point, and I have loved reading ever since.
4. What are my favorite genres and tropes?
  • I enjoy reading quite a range of books, however, Sweet Romance and Cozy Mysteries do have my heart. My absolute favorite is when it's a sweet romance with a little mystery to it (or vice versa). As far as tropes go, I had no idea what that word meant until a few weeks ago (thanks awesome Facebook group for readers haha). Now that I know it is just the different types of relationships/storyline in the book, my favorites are: Fake relationships, friends to lovers, best friends brother, and enemies to lovers. Something about those is just extra sweet to me.
5. What hobbies do I have outside of reading?
  • Baking and cooking! They are a lot of fun and I spend many days, when I'm not reading, creating new recipes and often selling my extra treats in our small little town. I love to make cookies and honey taffy the most and right now I'm working on perfecting some bread recipes, YUMMY! I also love being outdoors and exploring, especially when I have a metal detector with us.
6. What about my family?
  • I have an amazing little family. Hubby, a toddler, and myself. We live in a small town in Southern Utah and I wouldn't trade it for the world. We have 2 kitties that are about a year old that we adopted just after Halloween last year.
7. What did I want to be when I grew up?
  • Growing up, what I wanted to do changed quite often. At first I wanted to be a teacher like my mom and two of my brothers. However, after working in schools I quickly changed my mind. Then I started leaning more towards; wedding planner, cake decorator, bakery owner, chef, author, interior designer, landscaper, marine biologist, etc. Basically I just wanted to work with my hands in a creative way. Now I am a stay at home mom, who crafts, reads, explores, and bakes.
8. Do I watch movies and tv shows?
  • Of course I do! My favorite movies fall into 2 categories: Hallmark and Adam Sandler. Yes I know they are quite opposites, but I know what I like. My absolute favorite movie is Just Go With It, with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston (two of my celebrity crushes). As far as TV shows go my tastes are just as random. Some of my favorite shows are: Doctor Who, Hart of Dixie, One Tree Hill, Psych, How I Met Your Mother, and Friends.
9. If I could live in any fantasy world, which would it be?
  • No contest or hesitation, it would be Harry Potter. I feel it would be beyond lovely to explore the shops, meet the creatures and people there, and explore Hogwarts. It has always fascinated me in the books and movies (but of course, yes the books are way better). My first stop would be to Honeydukes for some sweets.
10. What are my favorite things that make me smiley?
  • Flowers!! Especially white daisies and pink carnations. Books!! Sweet romances and cozy mysteries. The first sip of a nice cold Cherry Coke. The first and last bites of pizza. The center cuts on a brownie. Lemon, everything (decorations, drink, marinade, starbursts, etc.). Rainy days and thunderstorms. My toothpaste that tastes like cheesecake when you brush with it. My hubby and our sassy toddler. Thrift stores, libraries, cute neighborhood little free lending libraries, and dollar stores.

Well that's all for me on this. Hopefully you learned more about me than you wanted to!

As always,

Have a very lovely day and keep reading
